New Jersey HOA laws

What New Jersey asks of your association

New Jersey community associations are governed by PREDFDA. The 2017 Radburn amendments added governance rules for open board meetings, member access to records, and fair elections.

Meetings

Open board meetings

N.J.S.A. §45:22A-45.1

Give members at least 48 hours' notice of board meetings, with the date, time, location, and agenda.

Records

Access to records

N.J.S.A. §45:22A-45.1

Provide members access to association records, including financials and minutes, within 10 business days of a written request.

Elections

Fair, verifiable elections

N.J.S.A. §45:22A-45.1

Conduct elections with verified eligibility and a public, inspectable ballot count under the Radburn reforms.
